I'm not getting far with online applying at all but referrals/recruiters work well, however I don't have connections with all the places I'm interested in. Here's my small sample size and results: Online Applications - Twilio, Redfin, Dropbox: all rejected, non-specific reasons. Referrals - Microsoft, Meta/FB: active interviews ongoing. Indeed was active, I put it on ice. Recruiters - Amazon: applied, no word yet. Maybe it's because I'm coming from my own small company and not from Big Tech but I have high profile tech lead gigs (contract) at a number of Fortune 500 places so there should be some resonance? Maybe it's because I'm somewhat older but I'd like to think that's not it. If I get rejected initially from an online app can I still immediately come in through referral or is there a waiting period (at Faang and other big tech)? Also, would greatly appreciate anyone who could refer me at Uber, Stripe, Square, (or similar). TC 250-450 (varies heavily by year as it's my own biz) YOE: 20

I am also "somewhat older" and haven't had any issues with getting interviews. Keep at it!
Thanks, that's good to hear!
So, at most larger tech companies, when your application never gets you even to a phone screen, does that count as a rejection and start a cool-off clock or is that only when you are rejected once interviewing begins?
