Worried because it isn't SWE, what does it mean for my future to take a proserve job?

Proserve gives you opportunity to be a holistic architect who can migrate and modernize any layer of it landscape . Smart people exit as cio kind of role , but people who don't want to explore new stuff and opportunities given by AWS exit as specialist . But AWS brand name fetch good money and doors for joining azure and gcp always open

    • I’m considering proserve but I’m worried about getting “locked in” to only AWS/MS since they pay the highest for consultants. I looked at Accenture and big 4, none pay as high.

Almost feel like being SA is better since more tech companies have SA than consultants. Thoughts?

Proserve is a good stepping stone depending on where you are in your career trajectory. If you can get an SWE job, that's way better. But proserve is a lot better than other lower jobs too.

Proserve is essentially consulting. Are you a SWE now? If so, stay and leetcode

Are you sure? My offer is closer to SDE than the SA numbers I see on levels.fyi. Some friends with SA offers have TC packages roughly in line with what I see there.

I guess there's some ambiguity over what exactly a solutions engineer is but I had thought that SA was more of a presales thing

Levels website is accurate for SDE and SDM but not good for any other job roles. People input their numbers incorrectly - bonus, RSU, stock appreciation. There's lots of SDE data but the other categories are dirty data.
