I usually go and pick up my food.
I don’t have a car 😞
Neither do I. There are some pretty good restraunts near me 😮
Debating if it’s better to do doordash or Uber eats and tip the gig worker, or go and pick up and let the restaurant make more money. Don’t like giving money to doordash or Uber that doesn’t go to the worker. Also cuts out one middle man so better social distancing. Leaning to pick up.
Dasher would drop food at your doorstep, just make sure to wipe the bag and containers with disinfectant wipes.
Lets wipe the food as wel😂😂
Wiping containers would more so be the case with groceries. Best procedure is: **Note**: No touching your face the instant you touch the food containers. Your hands are hot/contaminated after the first step. Treat them as such until you wash your hands. * Replate food onto something microwaveable. * Throw away containers and accoutrements that came with meal. (You'll want to use your own silverware/napkins/condiments.) * Microwave food until it's burning (you) hot. * Wash hands with soap for 20 seconds. * Wipe down any surface that you touched since step 1. (Don't forget your door and microwave!) * Food should be sufficiently cooled by this point. * Enjoy!
They drop food on your doorstep now
According to the FDA, the coronavirus doesn’t transmit in food. Also, you can use DoorDash for pickup too.
You’re assuming the people preparing the food take the required food preparation steps to prevent it. Also, It very much does transmit on the packaging, which can be be picked up at any time during packing, handing, and delivery.
The same can be said about the grocery store or Amazon warehouse. Don’t disagree with you but compare with alternative of crowded grocery store or Amazon warehouse.
Recook them to be sure
Posted this in a comment, but for rest of the thread as well, this is the procedure I'm following for out food. Procedure is: **Note**: No touching your face the instant you touch the food containers. * Enjoy!
For those who are posting how they would sanitize/are sanitizing the delivery, did you vote Yes or No? From the amount of effort that you guys are willing to put in to sanitize, I’d much rather just eat something from the fridge.
I voted yes, but I've only got take out twice since this started. Food from the fridge is all well and good, but burritos and Chinese food are difficult to make with what I have on hand. You have to shake it up occasionally to keep your morale up, but I'm going the cautious route too. It's worth it.
Compare this with going to a grocery store or getting groceries delivered and think about how many people touched the items you’re shopping for, from the distributor to stocker to the one picking the items.
Don’t restaurants have the same issues with the distributor? And the stocker is analogous to the cook in the restaurant
One is more crowded than the other. That’s what I’m trying to say. There’s no perfect setup right now but the risk seems low vs any alternative. It’s important to also recognize how important these restaurants need our collective orders right now.
Those who do better tip well!
What’s well? I’ll usually do 20% but 30% in these times. On Thursday I took a Lyft and tipped over 50%.
I don't
