Hey Blind community asking for a friend who’s recently been offered a role with Tesla and wondering:
1. Is this offer is worth moving internationally to Fremont and the pressure of the role given the total TC.
2. Is Tesla a real resume booster?
3. Given the recent jump in stock, is it still a good time to join?
The offer is for Senior Mechanical Engineer
PhD + 6 YOE
Offered TC: 170K (125 base + 175 RSU)

170k with 6 YoE (with PhD) sounds more than fair.
Try to negotiate a little. But a breakdown will be helpful. Don’t expect much Appreciation in the stock and you may be positively surprised.
Phd + 6yoe - 150k base should be reasonable.
I believe your data points because all the companies you mentioned are known to pay lot better than regular ME companies. Tesla is definitely not one of them.
take those handful companies out and see the average.
2. I'm sure your friend would have an easier time jumping to another FAANG company from Tesla than their current employer
3. This is the most uncertain, do you think it'll continue to rise or a collapse is imminent? I'm honestly curious what Blind thinks. Personally I'm really unsure either way.
Telsa is growing alot and their recent jump will continue to grow with small hinderances here and there, which is there for every company.
Also what is the breakdown of his/her TC.
Not everyone lives simply for TC. Yes, WLB can be bad there, but if one can manage there knowing that caveat, the learning and resume boost is big!
