im seeing mixed things online. i am currently in the running for a position there and want know truly what the employee culture is there.
You will be nickled and nickeled. They do not want to spend dimes, unless you become one of the CEOs entourage. Very micro management company. Claims rocket ship growth. Very secretive culture. Why breathe toxins? When there is lot of fresh air around
It’s “mixed” only because of a careful, tactical move on the part of the CEO and leadership to doctor the ratings by forcing managers to write positive reviews and making their teams do so in turn. In this age of information and education, you’d be hard pressed to find a group of people that are actually okay with a culture of lies, inaction, and dogma. Press to work there if you don’t have options and need money, to break into tech, and you think a job is a job and don’t care how you’re treated or you’ll be asked to treat others. Either way, most turn over or out before you get any meaningful equity (which you won’t at this stage and they underpay for SF market salary). At the fear of bringing in more harmful people that would hurt the good and kind peers there, hesitate to say this, but someone who has sociopathic tendencies will perform well in that culture. Those who leave are paid to keep quiet or are threatened verbally about their career future. (They don’t have many friends in Silicon Valley, so it’s nothing but a poor intimidation tactic.) Why get in the crosshairs of a mediocre startup with shoddy leadership that refuses to be self-aware and and a mission that masks a gambling platform that knowingly targets addicts and those in debt?
Lol comment above is funny because I’ve worked at this company for years and the post from qoFL57 looks like it was written by someone I know who was fired on my team for bad performance
So do you recommend working for Skillz or just want to make fun of the first commenter?
Didn’t work there but had an interview there when I was out of state. Rejected their offer to go onsite because they wouldn’t expense travel. That can say a lot about the company culture sometimes
I feel that. I get doing at home assessments but the ones I did were extensive. Additionally they want 2 on sites totaling almost 10 hours. I’ve had three phone screens already, plus a 4 hour assessment. I’m a little peeved.
Yup. I’d look at other companies unless you are in a financially burdened situation
