Hi everyone!
I'm an engineer willing to relocate to the US.
Recently I had a conversation with an immigration attorney. He said I have a strong case for O-1. I can sponsor my relocation myself, but the question is to find a company that will be my (temporal) employer and will sign my petition. And here I would like to ask for advice.
1. My current strategy is to find a small company/startup and negotiate with heads about my situation. Usually, these companies have a higher response rate. Is this a proper way?
2. Which large companies can hire an employee via O-1? I read, most of them require a US work permit, can I attach a cover letter describing my situation?
3. Maybe, it's possible to ask some company to be my temporary employer without actual employment? Can they agree? And after the relocation begin to look for a real job?

I was offered to go through the O1 route by my FAANG employer but I decided not to as O1 doesn't give employment authorisation for spouses.
So if you are that good you can get a job at any top employer such as FAANG. They will happily sponsor your O1.
Also, to get Blind folks to respond -- TC or GTFO
TC added, thanks!
