How concerned should we be about the impending big earthquake? Bay area is nestled among multiple fault lines which can rupture any time. Isn’t this an issue for those buying multi million dollar houses? https://youtu.be/1CG_Ho66vNQ #housing #bayarea
Same in the Seattle area
Many houses in the area are built after 1950. There have been many earthquakes in the area including real large ones after that and the houses are still standing. For just $5000, you can earthquake retrofit your house to withstand earthquakes larger than the previous ones. Many earthquake faults are already mapped. Avoid houses on top of a known fault.
Really depends on what the houses are built on https://sf.curbed.com/2019/4/15/18311670/earthquake-map-california-geological-survey-liquefaction
It doesn’t discourage folks with $$$ to buy million dollar houses in the Bay Area.
Don’t worry, just close your eyes and it will not happen. I’m not being sarcastic, this is what everyone else is doing. If you buy a newer home in trivalley, it won’t be so bad
