This is brilliant: Software engineer got tired of getting rejected by automated screeners and tested a theory.

Real resume: 0% success

Obviously fake resume stuffed with buzzwords: 90% success rate

Calls from from Notion, AirBnB, Reddit, Dropbox, Robinhood, etc

You gotta understand, the normal req load for a recruit is 15-20 esp in this crazy market. We be screening thru like 200-300 resumes a day + interviews + meeting + administrative tasks + reporting, etc. some times it’s just a numbers game! Try being a recruiter and you will understand :)

More than keywords, the names of the past companies probably stood out the most. Who needs to read description when you already have a bunch of FAANG type companies in your resume?

You’ll get past the screen with this resume, but you’ll get auto rejected first time a technical engineer sees your resume.

    Source: I’ve tried.

Exactly. Which questions the reach out. I find it difficult to understand why they reached out. Ahh well.

That’s what recruiters do. I get reached out from witch companies and from other companies for some $20/hour contractor roles.

When interviewing candidates for an ML position, I ask if they have optimized their resume for AI ranking. In today's environment the best candidates will.

Totally. I actually did so with my resume which actually got some calls. But still, some due diligence to at least check the resume should be done.

Any resources (eg blogs/writeups) on this? Not sure what you mean by AI ranking optimization - is this analogous to SEO?
