Office Mandatory in Covid-19

My wife recently joined Western Digital and they are asking her to come to office daily even after telling spike in cases in our area and apartments.
Her manager is saying either come to office or else she might have to leave her job.

Are they legal to ask this?

    Depends on what you value. Job or life. Also, I'd suggest her to start interviewing. Covid has permanent lung and kidney damage no matter how great your recovery. On top, it risks higher chance of impotency for men. In any case, at least for me, I'd hate to go there now whatever the salary.

    I actually gave up a 35L job because the CEO seemed adamant that once we open up, you WILL come. Fuck that.

    Make her cough really hard when she's in the manager's presence, make the mask fall off or move by accident. Say she's not feeling well. Get note from doctor that she has mild pneumonia and needs to stay home.
