How is life at Apple Special Projects Autonomous Systems Group

I was contacted by an Apple recruiter for Machine Learning (both AI model dev and ML infrastructure ) roles. How is the life in this group? I heard there are some turnovers after they last time laid off 200 employees? Also is the product just cars or robots are also being researched? #apple #ai

    Spg has been somewhat of a whirlwind. I joined the project during the early stages back as an intern and stayed for 2 internships.

    Since then there’s been multiple rounds of people being laid off and reassigned, new people coming in at leadership. Also the product seems to keep changing every few years.

    But have got high hopes still though.

    I have some PyTorch and Jax experience and heard Apple has a new hardware platform for AI acceleration which intrigues me. However if they are only working on cars they are up against big competitors such as Tesla, Rivian etc and I am afraid the product will eventually not succeed. However if they also work on robots that will be more interesting.
