I've accepted an offer at Angie's list/homeadvisor/handy and don't start for another 2 weeks. To better prepare for the job i'm wondering what common libraries, tools and frameworks is used within the company. Any insight on this from existing employees would be appreciated! #softwareengineering #angieslist #homeadvisor #tech
Do you know which of the former companies your team was a part of? All 3 are different lol
My manager is in the Handy side so my team is probably part of that company
You're probably right. Your tech stack will likely be Ruby on rails. If you do any digging into homeadvisor code you'll find good old Java and Springboot.
Message your hiring manager and ask them what kind of prep you can do.
Op can I reach out for some help with your interview experience?
I believe it’s mostly a Java shop with sprinkles of Scala and node.
I've been working here for 7 months now and have not done any Java, Scala work yet. There are teams that only do java work but the the stack you work on heavily depends on the team.
Why prepare in your own time? Let them pay you to do that on the job.
I wanna kickass at the job. Also I enjoy learning new technologies and programming on the side, so being paid or not doesn't matter too much to me
