Data science “product interview”
If a DS interview is going to have product questions, is this usually with the product team as a separate interview? Or will the data scientists on the team/the hiring manager ask the questions during the normal course of the interview?
Curious because after what I thought was a final round interview, the company scheduled me for an interview with 3 more people: Sr. PM, software engineer, and a devops person. I don’t know what to expect from this interview, whether it will be more conversational to learn about the product, or if it will be more intensive.
I’m under the impression that this is more of an ML role and less of a product role, but it could be somewhere in the middle.
Am I gonna get grilled or are they just going to explain the product to me?
Edit: for anyone landing on this post in the future, it was mostly conversational with them asking questions about my prior experience. It took effort but it wasn’t the product sense grilling that I prepared for. (Thank god).

-Phone screen
-Hiring manager call
-Take home assignment to build a model
-Technical round interview with two data scientists
I felt that I did well overall in each of these steps.
The recruiter described this call as “to make me feel more comfortable with the product and get to know me better”
