Which city to work in China as SDE

1: Shenzhen Silicon Valley of China. Brand new city. Only 30 years old. Also a garden city. Entire city is well planned. Next to Hong Kong. Streets are super clean. No homeless. Crime is rare. All tech companies are either based there or has tech branch there (e.g. Amazon China). All residents are young migrants from other part of China. 2. Beijing Capital of China. Center of everything. Has best education, medical resources. Long history. Deep culture. A lot of fun places for hanging out. Tech opportunities are similar to or less than Shenzhen. It’s like Seattle to Bay area. 3. Shanghai New York of China. Most fintech companies are based here. Big tech companies also have branches here. But opportunities are less compared to Beijing or Shenzhen. Some tech companies move their non-engineering roles to this city. 4. Hangzhou Alibaba HQ. Close to Shanghai. Tier 2 city. Lower cost of living. Slower pace. The only reason I would consider working there would be an offer from Alibaba 5. Chengdu Less known. It’s an inland city. Tier 3. Cost of living is very low and pace of life is also slow. It’s like Austin of China. Some tech companies have branches there with some openings (not many). If you work in tech, every thing would be cheap for you.
