Currently in Seattle.
If faangs and equivalent no longer support remote work in future (was told similar by a Google and doordash recruiters that they are preferring candidates who are willing to come to office than remote candidates),
what companies am I left with that would allow me to continue working from Austin? Considering moving there.

Then you have Apple, Meta, Google, Amazon. Then Databricks, Dropbox, Coinbase, and several others offer full remote.
So, you will find plenty of opportunities.
But don’t come to Austin, not the best spot when you have a lot of full remote opportunities.
Other smaller places that come to mind, but still with some offices in case you want to go back to the office are: Denver/Boulder, Atlanta, Portland, Tampa, Orlando.
I agree that Austin is not for everyone. It gets hot as balls there and Texas in general has horrible politics. There is also not much to do unless all you do is hang out in the city. You’re really far from anything but extremely conservative Texas country if you want to take a day trip on the weekend.
The main reason I left FAANG is because of this exact same issue. Everyone seemed to want to go back to the office. My teammates were going in and taking selfies from their desks like the office is the best shit ever.
Nah, I’m good. I’ll take my 1 acre and 3,500 sq ft house in a LCOL area and have a healthier relationship with work. One in which my job doesn’t define who I am, I’m not concerned for how prestigious the brand is, and I’m not sitting in traffic for 1.5 hours a day convincing myself that I’m happy just because I work for FAANG.
