After living most of my life in midtown Manhattan and spending most of my professional work life in a cubicle, I am petrified of the idea of going back to the office because I enjoy the immense freedom remote work gives me. Now I am being showered with offers from investment banks at the Associate level, but they too want me in a midtown Manhattan office 5x per week. I would be interested in making the jump from corporate banking to advisory.
Outside of banking, finding a fully remote finance position is easier said than done because it seems that everyone in finance wants to be remote so it’s ultra competitive. Furthermore, a lot of these jobs are for FP&A positions that seem pretty boring.
So my two options are to either get an MBA at 28 yrs old and make a career switch, or teach myself how to code and make a career switch to tech.
What would you guys recommend?
