Lately, I've been pondering my experience within organizations over the years, and finally have an opinion that's bubbled to the top and I feel it's high-time to express.

Hey leaders, managers and others, stop encouraging positive Glassdoor reviews, it's disingenuous and creates a false, "honest" experience. Glassdoor, Blind and other rating sites need to keep it real. Encouraging positive ratings, although anonymous, is still a negative and potentially a bullying tactic that could possibly make people feel pressured to participate as there are those who do not trust the "anonymity" of such platforms.

Employees, coworkers, partners all know about Glassdoor and more so now, Blind, and know how to access and give ratings. How about this, focus on your employee experience, pay attention to what "truthful" ratings are saying about the environment and address the common themes occasionally in team meetings. State what the company is doing to help change things as well as celebrate the positive things people are saying, but please, do not encourage high ratings on these platforms, because these platforms are for open, honest conversations, not another LinkedIn where "everything is awesome!" type posts proliferate, because let's be honest, company experience can be great, but nothing is perfect... rant complete.

  • It's not such a big deal any more. Everyone knows that glassdoor is a corporate shill dumpster area. Glassdoor became LinkedIn a long time ago. If Blind ever does the same thing, some other site will replace it.
