Does Twitter wfh forever mean Bay Area pay even if you move?

That’d be impossible right? Like if someone moves to a the middle of no where in Arkansas or something, they wouldn’t get $250+ Bay Area TC I assume else everyone would move

This is a bad thing in disguise. If you don’t have to come into the office, why don’t they just pay someone in India to replace you for 1/3 the cost?

How would they even know you moved if you don't tell anyone?

As long as you stay in the same state and do the taxes right with the correct info at the end of the year it shouldn't be a problem.

Live in the same state and update your official address if you move to a low COL area. Why wouldn’t you change your address? This is like saying if you work at google, you can’t have a Pleasanton address.. You can even live in Tahoe and say I would come by to the office once a week..

I'd go somewhere with seasons and less perpetual gray. Buy a big property on a river or fish bearing stream, with trees. Then, hunt, fish and ride my quads and snow machines.

    • I’d never move to Arkansas. But in its defense, they have some top tier mountain biking parks. My friends and I used to road trip down to Bentonville and crush berms all day.

If you are already hired, you already have a signed contract for the amount of salary they’re paying you. If you move, it does not matter, that contract is still valid and they will not lower your salary. Best thing is to move as soon as possible, tell them your new address so you can get less taxes out of your paycheck. Push for remote forever. Enjoy the freedom and flexibility of remote work.

When my previous company shut down my office and asked me to move to a different one in a MCOL area they told me I had to sign a new contract with an adjusted salary. This could happen for remote work, although considering you won't necessarily be moving doesn't make too much sense.

Yeah, well that contract is an at will employment agreement and can be terminated at any time. If you transfer to a different location, it's terminated with an understanding that you'll sign a different agreement for the new salary immediately or leave the company

Twitter does location based comp already but certain areas you end up getting a better deal due to COL and taxes.
