I accepted offer from Microsoft for sde 2, but have gotten offer from amazon sde 2
Location : HYDERABAD, INDIA
MICROSOFT : 28/6/3/75K RSU over 4 years.
TC for 1 year : 49 Lakhs
AMAZON : 28/17/25 STOCKS OVER 4 YEARS.
TC for 1 year : 48 Lakhs
YoE 4
I am looking for a place with decent work, preferably something which is not very company specific and more open source. Work life balance is not a priority but taking some time out for yourselves daily should be easy.
The TC looks fine in both and minor difference on that doesn't bother me.
Edit : How long does promotions usually take in both the places like L6 in Amazon vs 63/64 in Microsoft.

* more uniform hiring bar across the company (i.e. at MS, collaboration is more challenging because the person in the other team you're dealing with needs to trust that both teams are at the same level of competency. At Amazon, there's less of this mistrust.)
* slightly more uniform coding infrastructure across the company (i.e. it's easier to change teams within the company if you need to, fewer interviews to handle)
* Less of "growth mindset", "hit reset", "inclusivity" sort of BS at Amazon. There's the 14 leadership principles, that are used/misused every day and not there simply for rhetoric. I found the BS and pretentiousness at Microsoft unbearable. Amazon knows what they are and doesn't BS about it.
