Wife works at Twilio as a dev and I've heard rumors and talk on Blind of another second round of layoffs because of the big stock drop last week. Is another round of layoffs coming by EOY? Any word on severance if another round happens? 4 yoe, 215k tc, PgM #twilio #layoffs #career #meta #facebook #brex #stripe #lyft #tech #layoff #severance
This is why you do a big one and get it over with! Otherwise, employees morale keeps getting hit !
yeah, she figures she'll wait it out regardless, but the uncertainty is unnerving, and the job market being shitty right now is scary
How definitive is it?? I have signed an offer with them. Also are there teams that are safer than others. I am on segment.
layoffs right before the holiday season are pretty brutal tbh
Gotta boost those financial numbers before the quarter ends
Hope not, people are joining twilio like flies. Easily see 30 new joiners a week since last few months. It'll be devastating for all
are these all backfills or is twilio still hiring? if there are layoffs I hope it's as generous as the last round
I think these are mostly backfills. The Hiring went into a power saving mode a few weeks ago. But I'm not placed to better view recruitment decisions.
Why on Earth would sometime go to a place that A: recently had a layoff B: basically mimics the "Solutions" of places like zoom, Google voice, and other much more well known and trusted solutions They're basically Hooli at this point lol
It’s Twilio lol. Their layoffs are not going to impact the overall market. FAANG layoffs will dictate the next year
True dat
I really don’t think we’ll see layoffs again this year or early next year. Sure morale is low but Twilio has a lot of cash in the bank. I think they will hold off. Leadership seems confident in the future.
They’re burning the cash fast. They need to get off their AWS dependency but that takes time and money. Have you ever seen a leadership team decide to tell their employees it’s time to panic? Of course they’re projecting confidence.
@twerpaderp you can see the company financial statements. At the rate they are burning cash they have a 6 year runway. That doesn't seem all that bad compared to other companies.
I started brushing up my resume since the last layoffs. In the next layoff even segment is not safe. I don't think there are going to be any more layoffs this year. This is the calm before the next storm.
When do you think next layoffs are, 2023 Q1?
Amazon that will be our guess since the company wants to reach profitability by 2023 though didn’t specify when in the year. With lower growth issued in our Q4 guidance this is likely going to happen unless we miraculous sell a ton of 7 digit deals between now and early Q1

don’t put to much weight into the thoughts of random ppl on this app
tech industry is a small circle so figure some people might have the scoop on what's coming next Wife hasn't heard anything but she's noticed moral is negative and I've noticed lots of discussion and rumors on Blind
I work at Twilio and am pretty confident layoffs are not in Q4 or Q1 2023. That being said morale is low at Twilio, but not as much in sengrid or segment. That being said I think attrition will take care of a lot of the Twilio side of the house’s devs. To be honest the devs on the Twilio side of the house are pretty toxic and are literal blind thread in company slacks and meetings. I think she is safe for at least two financial quarters, but that being said the Twilio side devs are pretty toxic and for her own sake she may just want to jump ship for a better company culture and mental health. I don’t see that changing anytime soon that being said if she transfers to the segment side of the house culture is different and she won’t have to look as hard for a new job.
