Currently L63 with 6 yoe. I have an on-site interview with AWS, recruiter told me L6 is a possibility but I could be down-leveled to L5 also based on interview performance.
Is L6 a possibility given my yoe? any advice on how to increase my chances of converting to L6? L5 would be a deal breaker for me even if the TC is more.
Anybody care to share their pointers if they were able to move to Amazon L6 from L62/63 at msft or similar levels at other companies? What helped the most in your interviews?

One such team is 'Amazon Pay'(was part of this team). Trust me they have really low bar and L5-L6 promotions happen in bulk. I personally know 2 folks who got to L7 in 6yrs(thanks to manager connections in picking up friendly reviewers). Left and joined AWS. Struggled to keep up with engineers in AWS for months but it was worth it.
If you are particular about growth and can handle politics retail else AWS for skills.
I went through one and was asked 10 questions, they were all pretty easy. But they expect very detailed answers and will question your reasoning on every choice.
L6 I was told is basically a architect level at AWS, 60% of your time will be in meetings or architecting projects, not coding.
I was down leveled to L5, but like others have said. That’s the terminal level at Amazon. The gap from L5 to L6 is very wide.
