Which companies in India would not mind about my hardware experience?

Sep 7, 2020 4 Comments

B.Tech in ECE. Currently an Asic design engineer , trying to move to swe. Started preparing with DS and Algo fundamentals and then CTCI with leetcode. Still need time to practice more. But is there any companies which will look past my hardware experience, given there is cut-throat competition in India? As anyone made similar kinda switch ?

And what kinda projects will help my resume for the same. Thanks :)

ECE 3 yoe here. If money is your motivation i would still recommended staying with semiconductors. Top semiconductor industry pays on par with FAANG. And If your not interested in ASIC then yeah leetcode and have some side projects and get out as fast as possible.

Have been working in major semiconductor co. for 1 year. I definitely liked the work here. But, compensation is definitely lower than SWE, which kinda kills the motivation to stay put. Should I still not make the move?

Don’t get tempted by SWE salaries, it you look core EC work, then stay in that ...
In future you could do a masters as well from Germany at very low cost ...
If you like SWE and passionate about it, only then take a call on switch ... money alone shouldn’t be a deciding factor here
