I have 7.5 years experience. 5.5 years at Amazon and 2 years in Groupon.

I am getting an offer from Uber for

Level: engg 2
Base: $145K
RSU: $450K (at 48.77$ per share based on 62.5 Billion valuation)
annual bonus: $40K ($8K cash + $32K RSU)
Team: I am happy with the team they are offering.

I feel both the base and RSU are low. I feel the valuation of 62.5 Billion is very inflated. it is realistically close to 45 Billion now.

At this point I am waiting for other offers and Interviewing with a few companies like Airbnb, Lyft
I messed up Google and Facebook without giving myself enough time.
I am willing to take the risk of loosing Uber.

Update:
got (not negotiated) offer from Lyft.
base: $175 K
stocks: $420K
joining bonus: $25K
level: unknown

Sounds about right for eng2. I bet you are not a senior at Amazon and you didn't do well enough in interviews to up level you to senior title.

That poll would demonstrate those results regardless of behavior on Blind by Uber employees because the media has done a thorough job villainizing the company for the sake of page views. I'm glad they've most recently started giving Google the same treatment, which provides evidence that it's the media spinning the narrative it wants based on issues that are industry-wide if not country-wide or simply human nature.

Zxcdfm, yes this is because of the bad media we got in the last few months. Influenced some employees to gain some distrust of the company and thus act sour. But this is already improving. You will see this has been reducing as our PR is improving and the management is taking more and more employee friendly steps. Thays why I feel it's good to join Uber now.

I think the offer is pretty good for Eng 2. You probably did not do well enough in the interview to get senior. Since you didn't get an offer from FB and G, don't depend on getting an offer better than this elsewhere. I would pick Uber over Lyft, Airbnb any day.

Regarding the stock price yes the price you quoted is correct for our current valuation. And I believe it's very likely to increase.

Your friend told you it's less now, that's inaccurate. What he/she may be telling you is the 409a price which is always lower than investor price.

Our valuation is still 68B. As you may have heard in the news, Softbank is also looking to buy 1b worth of more stocks at that same valuation (apart from some secondary transactions at a lower price but that's because they can provide liquidity to those who need it right now).

Jfis interesting. Normally investors pay higher than 409a so it seems your investor price is old.

vjk you are awesome. So much insights in this post and rightfully calling out all the handwaviness expressed by others. I love Lyft as a serious competitor to Uber but don't understand how anyone would pick them over us. There is simply no place for them to enter internationally in an otherwise saturated market which essentially pigeonholes them into one market which doesn't even make up Uber's majority at this point.

      OP, come to Uber.

Seems you need to be more focused on learning and where you can expand your skillset to get you to the level that matches your years and not what your offers are. Go where you think you can get the experience to make your value as an engineer highest not where the highest salary is now at this moment. You’re lucky to get an Eng 2 offer because usually with your background we would interview for a Senior level and I’ve never seen anyone while interviewing candidates get a downlevel, usually just deny. Up your game and then you can up your pay no problem. Don’t add a couple k now to lose out on 10s of ks in the near future.

uber definitely does not have any issues giving amazing projects to people of all levels, and recognizing them for doing well at it.

Have not seen anyone here that felt unfairly stuck and was not able to seek out ownership of good projects. Obv you still need to work hard for a promo and sometimes get lucky with having strong managers
