is it really worthwhile to stay in india sometimes when you could be making 2x-3x in america at the same company? reading around it seems like people do that very often? are people not trying super hard to get to america/canada? i might be biased because my family made it out back when im assuming things were much worse generally (80s) and were unskilled
Financially, absolutely. When you're able to bring the people you care about to this part of the world it makes sense. For a lot of folks, all the people they care about are in India. From their perspective, who gives a fuck what you make if you aren't around the people you love. You only live once. Everyone's situation is different.
If you would want to be an entrepreneur, you should be in India. It's very difficult to start a company on Visa.
Yes, stay in India. With the visa issues and recession coming here in 2021. People who are working here will be back anyway
You don't have to constantly worry about H1B in India and you don't feel like second citizens. You get to have servants etc. Some people really do want to take care of their parents as well.
I think you have casting system. Do you really not feel as second or third citizens?
I didn't consider it since I haven't seen it exist in the tech industry and IT cities which is what we are covering here. It still exists in rural and not so developed parts of the country though.
You earn 2x-3x but life style is equally expensive. You can live a luxurious life with 50lkhs/yearly in India and is way much better than 200k in USA.
That ^
Salaries in India are touching the roof ! Money is not a strong factor specially at the senior level. Quality of life is better in US, but then you can get much cheaper help in India. Overall it depends on your situation
col difference is huge i think senior engineers at faang get 1cr+
Quality of life is much better in US. It's worth it to risk your immigration than to go back and settle down in India. Salaries in India are very high nowadays, but no one wants to spend 5 hrs in traffic and stress of crowds and corruption and expensive schools and homes in India. This is true for any city. As for rural areas, lack of infrastructure makes you miss all the conveniences in US. In all the ways, quality of life is what matters. We all have only 1 life, why not live in the better place
Nobody spends 5 hrs in traffic, what are you smoking ?
Ask someone in Bangalore or Hyderabad. What bubble are you in? https://www.deccanherald.com/city/life-in-bengaluru/average-commute-speed-in-bengaluru-drops-to-187-kmph-757943.html
Depends on what you want in life. There are some things where US and other countries score over India and some other things where India is miles ahead of others. Do your research well, decide what you really want in life, what you are willing to compromise on to get the things you want. That should help to decide. From my experience, many people are returning to India especially from US because of visa uncertainties, loneliness, marriage (yes, nowadays instead of settling in USA some people prefer going back.. sounds odd, but true), or just what they see as better opportunities in India. Staying in India vs staying overseas is a personal decision and neither is better or worse.

It might be worthwhile if it is about money only, but it is not, there are other obligations and factors into play, some of which is hard to explain to Americans since many aren't privy to the culture there. Also, not everyone can get out, it isn't that easy.
