quick and easy stress fix?

I have a thing that I get a panic attack whenever I get evaluated for anything. I manage it quite well in the moment itseld so that other person has no clue what I am going through. But prior to the evaluation event it is weeks of lost sleep and barking at family for anything small. I hate this shit. New opportunity is presented to me, posibly a life-changing one, and sure enough the stress is back on the table. I have no time to seek therapy for something that took years to develop. I need to survive 10 days without destorying myself and alienating loved ones. If anyone has any pointers or went through the same, I could really use an advice. thx upd: thank you all, you are amazing

Share the concern with your family and ask them to be your support system during this time ( I am sure they already are)...take 5 breath before you say anything once you are starting to lose your cool....keep away from screen whenever possible

They are my support system, I am very lucky. Thank you for the screen suggestion, I might as well give it a shot for the ten days. I have nothing to lose

What have you already tried to manage your stress?

Empower RF Systems otep OP Jan 7, 2020

From mental health standpoint - I had professional help for some other stuff that it took care off. And I am on a low dose lexa. I am very happy and put together person most of the time. It is this kind of events that happen two, maybe three times a year that drain life out of me for a short period of time.

That’s fantastic that you already have a foundation for managing your mental health and value it! A few things that come to mind right away are: 1.) cognitive behavioral therapy practices (lots of resources and different techniques, explore what feels good to you) 2.) Byron Katie’s worksheets on reframing (going through a couple of these might really help!) 3.) Mel Robbins mindset reset programs (she is just started a new series right now) 4.) Creating a deep breathing practice can have profound effects as well, specifically the 4-7-8 technique when you are starting to get worked up. Everything I’ve recommended can be found for free and if you spend 5-15min a day working on it, you’ll likely see some positive returns on your time investment. (Feel free to dm me if you have any more specific questions or are looking for other types of resources.)

Meditation, deep breathing, cognitive behavior therapy which you can learn on your own or in a few months with a therapist. They work so damn well with stress management.
