Hi,

I opened a Robinhood account when I was in the US 3 years ago, but invested money only last year (after I returned to India). I have 2 questions:
a) Do i have to file taxes in the US if I show a profit ?
b) Do i have to file taxes in the US (or fulfill any other legal requirements) if I show a loss ?

I have only sold a couple of positions so far and show a cumulative loss for the year. But I will show a profit if I sell more stock now.

Any advice would be appreciated

What’s your immigration status in the US? If you’re expecting a refund then you don’t have to file the tax return by the tax day but should. if you’re owing taxes, you’ll definitely want to file by Apr 18.
