In a lot of companies new employees especially those with competing offers usually enter the company making more money than others at same level who have proven themselves and are more valuable to their managers and organizations.
Does this hurt morale and encourage attrition? Are expectations higher for newer employees? Is there risk of pip and layoff for new people?
At my company, our lead quit after they saw the new direct report was making more money. I think Lead was on their way out but this encouraged their resignation.
