My current employer filed for my extension last year and I haven’t traveled internationally since and my passport isn’t stamped with valid H1B visa. I am changing my employer and new company has filed for my H1B COE which got an RFE from USCIS. Is it possible to travel to India (I am an Indian citizen), get my visa stamped with previous employer’s H1B while the RFE is pending for H1B COE?

Your transfer gets invalidated, the moment you leave the country.
So better to stay put till transfer is complete, if you have no plans of joining the other company. Then go ahead

You need to be in the country, when transfer happens and you get the approval notice.
If you leave during the processing, it is considered abandoning petition. Hence becomes invalid
Invalidated - was a typo. Sorry

I wouldn’t recommend to travel in these situations until there is an emergency which cannot be postponed. Better to have the rfe responded and the transfer activity completed.

I would suggest not to travel unless emergency. Btw what is RFE about? And how much time it takes to receive RFE document?
