How do you guys throw yourself out there on LinkedIn to build rapport with HMs and recruiters? What do you say? Do you just dive straight into the reason why you’re messaging them or take it slow?

  • This is a losing strategy. Don’t build rapport with HMs and recruiters. Especially not recruiters. They tend to not stay at companies long. Make friends with people who work at the company, and then get a referral. Blind is really easy for referrals because random people will give referrals to people they don’t know.

    I don't do that. What are you trying to achieve, obtain job leads, or something else? If job leads, LinkedIn is not efficient in the short run IMO.

    I just went for it. I started writing articles and sharing articles and slowly built a following. With 20+ YOE it takes me about 2 months to find a new job - and that was mid pandemic - but I could not have done it without being very active and engaging on LinkedIn.
