Last year I moved to Bay Area and was looking for Data Engineering (Lead/Sr) jobs. I was not sure how much I should ask for? I have been offered (initial discussion) as low as 120K. On average it was around 150K. As DE ppl know, DE is very wide in bay area, from writing sql to aws/gcp/azure to a high end software engineer who work mostly on data related tech stack. Very few companies were offering bonus/stocks.
Any input what should i ask for 12 yoe in DE side (cloud+Big data)? #data #dataengineer #salary

Secondly, if your a team lead, this means that you are basically at a lvl that is basically no longer an purely ic role and should be compensated accordingly ... So if you don't get the same salary as an SDE at the lvl I'd be disappointed / would argue for better pay or just decline the offer and look for something else.
It sounds like someone with 12 yoe should be asking for WAAAAYYYY more than 120k. I've seen 140 - 180k ish for Sr, but I've seen this base for ppl in Seattle with a lesser cost of living than the bay.
