So, I had an interview bootcamp :) and got 7 offers. The choice is boilled down to those 4 companies in Subject.

Twitter.
Staff Engineer. No comp yet, recruiter told might go to the high band since I have strong competing offers. Told the highest is about 525 total.
Vesting: 6-month cliff, then every 3 months.
+ Interesting distributed system project
+ clicked with the manager
+ Join a growing group that will grow to 3-team org. Good careers opportunity
+ Hybrid office policy
- Not sure about future stocks performance, but financials looks great.

Uber:
L5A, top comp for the band: 203/700/35. 50 sign-on.
+ vesting 3 month cliff, then every month
+ Manager and team look good.
+ Hybrid office policy
* Product team. Not sure it is + or -, but I was thinking more about expending my distributed systems experience.
- Stock performance looks bad. However, might be an opportunity to enter with the dip.

Confluent:
Senior SWE. In the process of negotiation. Comp around 420k, told they are ready to go higher. However, they are trying to sell '40% annual growth in stock price' and I have a big doubt about such aggressive growth.
+ Great Team, Great product
+ distributed system experience
* Fully remote. Not sure if it is a disadvantage after covid
- currently too many seniors
- not sure about the future growth

Square:
Don't have an offer yet, but the interview was very positive. levels.fyi max comp: 525.
+ Bullish on stocks long-term
+ Company have a great mission
* Fully remote, but the whole company is.
- No predefined refreshers and no bonus

I would appreciate ANY thought!

YOE: 17
TC: 0 (resigned for interview preparations)

    Pointless without actual offer numbers.

You said “top for the band.” Does that mean those are the actual numbers offered to you?

I am obviously biased, but IMO Square is a public company with the growth of a private company. I feel like that might not be true for the others.

I am very positive about square potential growth! I am more or less comparing the career growth in Square (help to build kind of a platform team from separate backend teams) vs Twitter (help to build small org with training new tech leads). Both looks great, hard to choose :)

I think you'll be able to steer yourself to DS experience here after you establish yourself. Our architecture is sort of going through drastic changes lately as many teams are finally move away from bare metal. If you're looking for meaty distributed systems problems to solve, you will likely eventually find it :)

If they execute well on what they want to achieve in the next 5-10 years. Then it's the next Facebook (trillion dollar market cap)

      Cool! I agree!
Could you clarify on refreshers? How they are structured? What can I expect for L6?
