    I had a manager in my previous company who constantly made statements such as “you know I can hire two interns or freshers instead of one experienced person - and they have more energy and will pull all nighters as well. So if you want your job, then start working extra hard and extra smart,.. otherwise I can’t help it “

    I should have recorded it and sued this guy!

  • It is about time. The Tech industry keeps saying there are shortage of US workers to bring in kids from foreign countries and ignore experienced laid off Americans who can do much better job and have good experience

    this is not a simple issue. there is the cost benefit (ie someone with 10 yrs vs 20 yrs experience, does it make any sense to pay 20 yrs exp more money) ? there is the knowledge relevance (ie 20 old knowledge may not be useful in today world)... so it maybe easy to jump on "age discrimination" claim, but there are many other considerations too
