i am on h1b with visa stamped april 2020 and but my h1b renewed until 2022. can i get my real id based on my renewed h1b visa 2022? or do i need to get h1b stamped again before i apply for my real id #h1b
Isnt driving license good enough?
The normal driver license in California will no longer be accepted as a form of valid id at federal facilities or airports beginning in October 2020.
Wait h1bs are eligible for real id in california? NH real id is for gc holders and above
Not really. I got a real ID recently on H1B.
I got real ID on F1 when I was in college
Yup I have real ID and I am on H1b
you need stamped H1B on your passport
Wrong. Please don’t spread false information.
Uber is correct unfortunately
I think I can answer this correctly rather than others who are talking out of their a**. Yes you will get your real ID based on your I-797A. No need for the stamp on your passport. Since this is a new document and not many people have situation like yours, there’s a lot of misinformation around this. If someone in the DMV tells you otherwise, ask them to talk with someone higher up. Not everyone knows about this.
No need for stamping. I-797 is enough. I got mine without stamping.
Which dmv? When?
I got my real id multiple times without visa stamp. I went to san jose and san mateo.
Anyone know about Washington state?
Been in similar situation. H1B stamp (from previous employer) was till March 2020, but the new I797 was till 2022. Got my DL(real id compliant) renewed last month at Santa Clara. Only exception was my prior DL was already real id compliant.
You get real id DL for 4 years irrespective of your status in California. Why i say so? I got it this month inspite of my EAD expiring in June 2020
When was your US visa expiring?
I am on OPT. Need to apply for STEM before June
They give it upto your i94 validity
