I am currently working in academia (phd in physics) but have been finding jobs in tech industry. Can anyone offer referrals for companies in Boston/Cambridge area? Since I am "new" to the software engineering, non-startups seem to be more suitable (?). I have done side projects in ML / webapp (aws lambda+flask) / alexa skill / phone app etc. Recently I got rejected by google at HC (after onsite, without teammatch). but hey, I am glad that I made it that far.. Anyone interested in referring me? PS. currently in a non-east-coast big city
Amazon, Spotify, Capital One, Datadog, Microsoft, Elastic, Twitter
Wayfair for Boston in Back Bay
Do you like working there?
I think it's fine. I have a SW background and industry experience though.
Keep in mind Wayfair is the largest tech employer in Boston, so with that cones a lot of variability of experience, like you’d expect at Amazon in Seattle, so careful with your team choices.
thanks for the advice
I also need referral for companies. Good profile and top publication record
from my job search experience, publication record worth nothing unless it is related (e.g., ML/AI for some research-y roles). I did not even put them on my resume. But I did lay out what tech were used in those academic projects.
