Facing apparent regionalism in VMware office. The director is a Telugu and and he promoted an MTS to senior MTS . This guy came in the team after us, not so great in coding, not that great in anything else as well except that he is from Andhra and can speak Telugu . I have been around for past four years and have trained him from architecture to coding practices and what not. Now, he is my senior and I am still at the same level, it may have been me, but there are four other team members who are both senior and more capable than him.Director also makes rules that he himself never follows and sabotages against anyone going against his “verbatim” wishes. I never heard a Marathi or tamilian doing this! Heard similar stories about Telugus from people of other companies who work here, is it same in Other areas as well?what do you folks suggest that I should do? P.S. Andhra is a state in south India. P.S. I am not saying that everyone from that state is like that, but I have observed a strong trend of this happening. Also I had roommates who were from consultancies and faked their resumes to get jobs, all of them were from Andhra!
OMG is this for real ?? C’mon Indians you can do better.. wow an Indian discriminating other Indian . Directors need proper training on when company says Vmware is an equal opportunity employer what it actually means .. hahah lol
Get ready folks. Shit is going to hit the fan!
Dude don't extrapolate one guy's behavior to a whole two states. Maybe your director is an asshole. But that doesn't mean all telugus are.
Whole world is discriminating against us. Look at the number of racist, hate and stereotyping posts on blind against Indians (One every 6 hours). Least we can do is not discriminate against each other. #peace
I am not discriminating by putting this on blind. Hiding the facts should never be a defense. Fixing it is!
Least indians can do is be honest and play the fair game. I'm an Indian myself and i have been closely associated with people openly doing malpractices
Op must be a master who failed at his own game and bitching as the last resort. This will get you nowhere. Your focus is clearly at a wrong angle pulling entire population into this.
Voicing my observations is necessary, someone has to point it out and if an American does this, all will gang up against him/her and claim racism,so better that I do it.
Replace the language there with your mother tongue. And imagine someone saying that about someone from your region. How do you feel?
That is true to a larger extent at cisco too ! At least in the BUs I have worked in. But we all have a choice either suck it up or leave . I have known new hires who are below average engineers and sucked in the interviews, but we had to hire them because they were recommended by manager/ dir of the same community that op mentioned. But again favoritism is everywhere and most of us do it.
Wtf..I know exactly what you are saying . Yes this happens when only technical people with no leadership qualities are promoted to director level who have no people skill and are only comfortable dealing with same language speaking people .
This is just sad 😔. I suggest op to move out, there’s nothing good that’s gonna come from staying back. Prep and leave.
I suspect that a mega Indian bitch slapping match is about to happen. Get my🍿 out
hahaha *subscribed
