hi guys! i started my first opt from 2019 september. I wish i could visit my home country(not from china, india fyi if it matters, no offense) my opt will be expired at 2020 july and will apply stem at 2020 april(woth h1b). currently im working at tech(amazon) as sde which goes with my major. my concern is, if i want to visit my home country around jan or feb, i need to reapply f1 visa for the entrance...(mine is expired yesterday). i heard some get denied since opt does not mean study . is it possible story? also, from my home land i have once caught by police for drunken driving(in fact, 2.5 yrs ago i didnt drive but slept inside the car while waiting driver after drink alcohole, but police punished me since car was on, so i paid minimum penalty. I never drive after this event though). sorry guys for the idiot post.. tc 150 sde new grad seattle
You started your first opt in sept 2019 and will be expired in july 2020..how come is your initial opt for 9-10 months?
You can visit your home country as many times you want as long you have valid opt ead card and travel i20 from your college..no issues..just carry what ever documents needed for port of entry(valid ead card,i20,employer letter, paystubs etc)
Main issue i have is my f1 is expired ..
You can as long as you have a valid opt card and I-20.
Wrong. You need a valid visa to enter
Wrong. I-20 is the source of truth for F-1 visas. It extends the validity of the visa.
