Hey guys, I'm a current intern at VTEX and am expecting an offer as my work has been great till date and my mentors are more than happy (which I hope is reasonable to expect?). I wanted to know how practical is it for me to expect VTEX to let me join their US, Singapore or Portugal offices instead of Brazil as I have doubts as to whether I'll be able to fit into their culture if offered a job there. Note: I do not hold a passport or visa of any of these countries including Brazil. Thank You!
Highly unlikely unless you’re a genius (even if that is the case I wouldn’t hold my breath) as far as I know. But if they do, update the post here haha
Oh I see, I can imagine employees working in offices outside Brazil is not good from the company's perspective because they'll have to shell out more bucks. Do you have any idea how difficult is it to shift from Brazil to non-Brazil offices later on? Will update if I get lucky :)
It is possible. I would bring up this topic with your manager. I see that my answer could be better phrased. Trying to explain: we don't have product development in the US either Singapore, so that’s why I believe it’s almost impossible to go that route. About Portugal, it is possible because we have an engineering office there. Probably VTEX is considering senior positions in the beginning but they already said it would be possible to change offices in the future. But to be honest your manager is your best ally on this subject. I don’t know who is your manager but their job is to help you grow your career and that’s a relevant question 🙂
Are you currently working in Brasil? Check the first party apps teams in the growth structure, they have engineers in the US. But if you wanna do that is a different issue
No I'm not, I was supposed to come to Brazil but couldn't due to the pandemic situation. Does the first party apps team need/take entry level engineers though?
Or a sales engineer
Ask your HR?
I would have but wouldn't it seem a little cocky to discuss FTE offers and stuff without actually getting an offer first?
