If a FAANG engineer with ~250k TC were to start up with some seed (1-2m). How much salary is it okay to take?
Does this change with the further rounds of investment?

Early on you want to maximize your runway, and any salary you take is an opportunity cost for growth. Take the minimum for you to be comfortable with your financial obligations (ie. food, housing, utilities). Ideally, you go into this with some cushion in savings until you get to a series A round.

For what it’s worth I haven’t founded a company but if I ever did have a great idea that got seed funding and I really believed in what I was trying to solve. I would Initially only take what I need to pay rent, utilities, insurance, groceries and maybe 500 for savings for a rainy day.
You wanna put that money in hiring the best and investing back into your startup.

This can drastically change after further rounds but the first round should entirely be focused on getting to the next rounds
