Hello,

Does anyone know any info about the location of Amazon new grad position? It says you'll be considered for all locations, but is the assumption that this will be usually be Seattle or do you get some sort of a choice?

Can it be remote? Can you move to Seattle very temporarily and then transfer/go remote after six months? Specifically I want to eventually be in the Minneapolis office.

Thanks

You’ll generally get a list of around 3 locations to pick from and Seattle will definitely be one of them. Everybody is going to be remote for another few months so there’s no need to move soon. You can transfer teams as a new L4 but many teams don’t have L4 reqs as those are filled by student programs. It’ll be hard to get remote approval as an L4 unless you find a remote team.

That may have been the case before omicron but all RTO is pushed back a few months (again)

My offer was for start date January and as far as I know they had already planned on not going back for a few months.

I asked why I needed to move and they said I just had to due to taxes and hr stuff. This was also before I had an exact team but I was no longer interested at that point.

Hopefully it’ll be diff now tho cause I see no reason to have to move if it’s remote

I just got hired a few months ago. Initially my hiring manager was telling me I would have to move to Seattle. But I sat down with the team before accepting my offer and they told me that I could stay 100% and work from anywhere I want.

There is flexibility depending on the org

It depends on where there are openings and if the team is remote or not. My team is relatively new so lots of people were hired during Covid, making it highly unlikely that we will ever go into the office.
