How do you manage your hours if you work in a time zone 2-3 hours ahead of peers/HQ?

Entering an associate PM role, HQ is PST but my time zone is CST, is it typical to be expected to work 11-7 to match their 9-5 or most of the time me working 8-4 (6-2 their time) acceptable?
