Big Short author Michael Lewis says Vanguard is more disruptive than Robinhood.

Holly shi*. To be fair Vanguard is a great choice for 401k accounts. If you want to trade, tech analysis, adv skills, use Robinhood. Let’s do a poll. Which is better for brokerage accounts

Vanguard is better. The UI and UX is so bad that I’m too lazy to buy/sell frequently and that prevents me from losing money

Who in their right mind still trusts RH with their money? VG UI sucks but they’ll have my money. Fidelity is probably the best

  • Vanguard etfs changed investments forever. Have to give them that.
Robinhood made a path for retail to the investment world by slashing fees.
    Both are equally important imo.
The sooner people realize that salary/savings aren't enough and passive investments are the way to go if you want to grow money, better everyone's life will be. It's honestly great to see young individuals caring about their financial goals straight in/out of college. They might not do well in the initial years but that learning will definitely go a long way.
Despite all the negative press around Robinhood and our lackluster leadership, seeing some of the stories of actual happy customers turning their lives around is wholesome.

  • Didn't read the article, but consider the scale of disruption. Robinhood drove down commission costs across brokers, which is disruptive, but Vanguard led the revolution in low cost index funds which now represent, last I checked, more than 30% of all us stock ownership.
