Would love to get an idea of what data engineers are making outside of Amazon. Would appreciate a break down by base, bonus, stocks, retirement benefits (if any) etc and location

As an L5 DE at Amazon, my base is $114k and TC is $185k. I was hired a while ago as an L4 BIE so not sure what new L5 DEs (or L6) are getting offered.
Facebook pays more than Amazon for DEs (and everyone else). I recently got an offer from them for IC5 Data Engineer (maps to Amazon L6) and TC of $323k. Additionally they give 4-year vesting RSU refreshers of $80k-$110k each year (for this role/level) which stack on each other.
Other companies keep DEs in the SWE job family with the same pay bands, so levels.fyi is more accurate for DEs in these companies. Examples include Lyft, Airbnb. I think Uber and Snap too, but not 100% sure.
Recently was offered a T4 (maps to Amazon L5) SWE-Data job from Lyft with a TC of $320k.
Harder to find comp details for DEs, but I assure you there are opportunities out there for better TC than Amazon.
Happy to share comp breakdown through DM.
