i've always wondered this. i know zero about sales
like say AWS lands a new customer that commits to spending $10m+/yr
or someone at databricks, google cloud, azure, ibm cloud, snowflake, any of these cloud / ai platforms who can win huge contracts.
there has to be some salesperson who closes out these top tier deals. how much do they make usually? $1m+ easily?

Mid-late career reps will have a base of about $170k, variable of $200k, equity of maybe $115k per year. Accelerators kick in at 100% of quota attainment. These will typically scale to 500-1000% at most cloud companies. A rep doing decent will make somewhere between $400k - 600k in commission alone. TC of >$700k.
$10M per year would be considered a (very) small commit. You wouldn’t see any execs caring until around $100M per year.
@dis9y, from what I heard, you are full of s$&t.
@OP, I can speak for AWS, but OTE for L6s goes to the mid 300ks and low 500s for L7s. AWS does not pay well for larger deals (they give a payout called a SPIF). For a $10M deal (depends on years), a sales rep would make like 30-50k (there is actually a spif calculator so sales reps can see this).
However closing larger one time deals isn't persa where sales people make their money. It's in exceeding your quota. L6s can theoretically make like $800k and L7s $1.2M if they blow out their quota.
