obligatory tc - $90 per hour contractor. obligatory yoe - 17 in java, includes 10 in android, 14 on dual-intent work-visa. i completed the online coding assessment in dec-2020, and then, a first-round phone interview in jan-2021. at this moment, i am seeking references, recruiter contacts for suitable L6 level opportunities with teams focusing primarily / entirely on android mobile apps engineering, design and development. long-story short : previous recruiter was very accommodating, always spoke about aligning my experience with suitable teams, and then she went on a maternity leave. replacement-recruiter only wants me to interview for generalist virtual-onsite loop - particularly, scalable distributed server-side systems design. why on planet earth with 10 years of relevant / real android mobile app development, design experience would i want to interview for a scalable distributed server-side systems design ? #amazon #android #l6 #staff-android
The L6 interview bar is high and will require you to demonstrate that the scope of your previous work was at that level (tech leading teams, influencing cross team). Also, there is generally no differentiation between mobile and non mobile SDEs and there aren't that many teams hiring for mobile, so on the functional skills side you're going to be stuck with the generalist loop. Amazon is probably not a good choice if you're looking to short circuit the whiteboard / behavioral interview process. I'm not saying any of this is good, but it's the reality.
all i want to avoid is the 'scalable distributed server-side systems design', because clearly, am no expert. i don't "solve" those problems in my real experience and jobs, i "collaborate", and that is also only to some degree. rest is practically what every other place conducts as an interview-loop anyhow.
