Worth it Long-Term to move to Bay Area (HQ)?
My wife and I are early to mid-30s, have 2 young children, both below Kindergarten age. I’m intrigued at the idea of pursuing a position in San Francisco to work out of Salesforce Tower (HQ).
I currently live in Texas and I fully understand how outrageous the living costs are in the Bay Area. However, I’m wondering if it would be a good long-term career decision to try to move to SF for just a few years and then trying to get back to Texas after.
Are there better career opportunities if you work out of HQ at Salesforce for a few years vs working in Texas for a few years?
If I can accelerate #tech #my career/open more doors down the road by working out of the HQ, it is worth it to me to live in a smaller house etc for a few years.

There is some truth to being in SF and at some popular company leading to better things a bit but it’s also very easy for you to get pulled into the rat race here. I don’t really know if I’d move here with a family just because the places popular with families are stupid $$$$.
Single hetero men should definitely not move here unless they love being celibate.
Building your network in sf might help when you move back and want to work remote. That’s about all I can think of being useful. But that means you are gonna fucking work hard to get that rep. Daddy gonna be working nights and weekends.
