Does anyone know about shopkick ? they reached out. I dont kniw the company culture, growth potential or salaries. oportunity looks interesting, very high visibility engineering leadership role, no salary commitments yet but the seem to be flexible. Would like to evaluate if it would be a good move to pursue a role of engineering leader at Shopkick or principal engineer at any other mid to large scale public company.
I scan stuff and earn gift cards App is pretty buggy though
They are owned by SK. Everybody I knew there has left by now to FAANGM or other startups as their options remained under water even after the acquisition. What leadership role are you interviewing for? Director or VP? Engineering, PM or something else?
Talked with their founder when they came to give talk to my Stanford class 5 years ago. But haven’t heard much about them for a pretty long time.
Now owned by Trax, not SK. We lost all our best leaders and doers. Very messy. But maybe a chance for you to try and rebuild.
Wow they got sold again?! Anyhow At Director level he or she won’t be doing much of company rebuilding. Need to be VP at least
It's a toxic culture here.
Could you pls elaborate on that.
Very top down culture. U will be fired for doing the right thing. CEO favours contractors over employees. A director was recently fired for talking openly for just that. There are many more things that make the company uniquely toxic.
Person I dated worked there and once mentioned it was quite messy.
Thanks , looks like it’s still messy but I saw an opportunity there to go fix things for them while building a scalable ads platform
Don't be tempted to be the fixer upper guy unless you have a proven record of improving specific businesses like theirs or just like being blames for problems that existed before you started haha
