should i join uber atg right now?

i was super excited for the oppertunity to work on self driving cars but given recent incidents i am a bit worried. Is there going to be another round of layoff at uber or uber atg? Are talented people leaving the company? (would love some reasoning behind the votes…) 1yr exp, tc 200K, current 120k, on h1b

It will be helpful if any Uber ATG employee share there experience on recent layoffs and how it will impact on ATG team in future...Appreciate your comments and reply which helps many guys who is going to join in next...

Atg does not feel affected at all. Remember it is now a separate company, sure board is 80 perc uber but still independent. Also atg have their own investors. I would say joining uber, atg is the best department. Day to day work is the same, I don't see ppl in fear, because atg ppl are like top ppl in tech so we can get other job easily. Also we pumped out so many top tier papers, frankly I say we are ahead than behind, just check the papers, you be the judge.

It’s a great salary, but I would be more worried about employment laws in the next 2-3 years affecting how ATG is funded

How so? would you care to elaborate a bit?

I’m not trying to say it will happen, but there is a definite possibility that Uber is hamstrung by the contract vs. FT driver employment debacle. In the bad case, the company may be forced to slow the rate of growth, investment in new technology, and engineering headcount to compensate drivers (which they would NEED to do to stay in non-AI business)
