I accept it. All this high TC makes people arrogant. Combine loneliness, high TC, narcissism and introvert traits and all you get is a disastrous arrogant cesspool. Males and females alike.

This industry can get you lonely at times. It is a huge rabbit hole.

Take care of yourselves.

I think that's an area that I lucked out on. I studied engineering (not CS) but ended up being very social, outgoing, and extroverted. Thb, it just takes practice and not gotta think about potentially coming off as weird too much.

I think getting yourself out of a place where you’re surrounded by tech folks helps. NYC gives that opportunity where there are so many different kinds of people. You naturally end up having other interests because there’s so much to do socially.

If you’re in a tech hub like SF or Seattle you’re unfortunately surrounded by tech ppl everywhere outside that have the mentality OP is describing.

Those traits are a bit endemic to tech. Popular extroverted people aren’t going to spend most of their free time on the computer from a young age.

  • We’re in a huge bubble, as soon as it pops, yearly bonuses will dissapear, recruiting will shrivel up, and hiring standards will rise tremendously (if you think they’re high now, look at the massive hiring spree Meta is on right now)
