My friends referred me for a few companies but I never received an interview call. The only time I managed to get a call was
1. when my friend shared a good connection with the hiring manager and handed over my resume directly to him, or
2. when one recruiter was kind enough to schedule an interview when I reached out to him on LinkedIn.
Apart from that, it's mostly a dry season. It has been several months since I have been applying to jobs. I got referrals at Apple, Google, Microsoft, PayPal, Roku but no interview calls :( . I pinged a few recruiters on LinkedIn but they rarely respond.
I don't think my resume is too bad. But I may be wrong. Can anyone let me know what keywords to include in the resume, or anything else that I can do to get more calls? Would it help if I mention my location as SF on my resume (I am currently not in any of the tech cities)?
This is for data scientist position.

The whole idea for recs is they like to move forward with candidates who they feel could crack the interviews. Either they see that you’re from top tier school which means to them you’re good. Else they see if you’ve enough relevant experience and expertise, again this shows them you can crack the interview.
