Due to ongoing pandemic and uncertainity I am sure many companies will start yanking out resources. I am a Software Engineer(Contractor) at Google. Will layoffs happen soon at Google for contractors considering the ongoing corona crisis?
Not sure how bad covid19 impact is going to be. Google is one of those nice companies that care a lot about extended workforce. But if things turn truly unfortunate then yes I think vendors and temps / contractors will be the 1st to be impacted.
I think they would take careful consideration before mass lay off of contractors considering how the tech companies got a bad rep for taking advantage of contractors. They had more contractors than fte at one point.
Google doesn't care about TVCs. There's even a TVC chat and email group where people discuss how TVCs are treated. If you're not being treated differently as a TVC, you're a minority, sorry to say. The US offices are the worst, I've read. It's not a secret. Lots of articles, especially on medium, about it.

Which vendor are you with?
