Because they're trying to morale pressure us into tipping, when it should be part of their salary. I'm doing my part to drive their salary lower in the meantime to force them to quit their shitty job

I know there are reddit communities where delivery drivers from a city decide on a time to log off. When they all log off, there is no one to accept. This jacks the Uber eats delivery amount to as high as 20 bucks and then they log in and grab an order. So they make more money at least one time a day.

I don't tip. Not only is it a stupid practice, not done in most parts of the world, it's also ridiculous given the upcharge the apps take on top of the order.

I sincerely believe it is better to get market forces to take over so delivery people either demand higher wages or unionize. The money should come from the apps companies, given the take a 30% commission on restaurant orders.

It is the right approach, it just requires enough people to do it for it to work. Until that time, you lot can subside their salaries from this stupid system. I'm still not going to tip and I'll donate that money instead to a valuable cause.

Yelp: not doing jack shit, but reducing income for that driver? So you see, it is actually doing something. I commend you psynaptic and I'm doing the same. They're just trying to use morale pressure to increase their own wage, let the market do its job

The idea of tipping is getting massively warped. You tip for service when you paid for something else.

In other words, you tip a server because you paid for the food

When I use DoorDash, Uber eats, etc, I am already paying for the delivery service. I shouldn’t be forced to pay again on top of that.

You don’t tip your McDonald’s order taker, you don’t tip your cashier at Walmart and you don’t tip your UPS/FedEx/USPS driver. Why would you tip your DoorDash or UberEats drivers?

I also don’t tip uber or Lyft drivers. I already paid for what you are giving me.

One more problem with tipping for food delivery services, it’s always BEFORE service was complete. Tipping a server in a restaurant is AFTER service which allows you determine a fair tip. I tipped ONCE for uber eats long ago, and the driver picked my food up and dropped it off over an hour later. I could have gotten it myself easier and quicker. Even pizza delivery allows you to determine tip at the door (once service completes). You are NOT tipping for service with DoorDash and uber eats, you are subsidizing wages, which is even worse.

There are so many reasons why I don’t and won’t tip for these services that you can’t convince me otherwise. The companies that perform these services pray on wage subsidization and taking a middleman cut.
